What is balayage and how is it different from highlights?
Balayage is a French freehand colour technique where colour is hand-painted directly onto the hair surface — not placed in foils. This creates soft, blended transitions with no harsh lines and no visible regrowth line at the root. Balayage grows out naturally and beautifully over 3 to 4 months without looking overgrown — making it significantly lower maintenance than foil highlights.

Before the lightener is applied, a hairdryer is used to blow away the fine, delicate hairs in each section — leaving only the thicker, stronger strands to receive the lightener. What is non-bleach balayage and is it right for me?
Non-bleach balayage uses advanced ammonia-free and PPD-free colour systems to achieve soft, dimensional colour lift without traditional bleach. It is ideal for clients who want a natural colour lift while preserving hair integrity — particularly those with fine, sensitised, or previously over-processed hair. Hera pairs all colour services with Olaplex or K18 molecular bond protection for maximum shine with zero compromise.
How much does balayage cost in Singapore at Hera Hair Beauty?
Balayage at Hera starts from $170 for a half head and $200 for a full head, inclusive of wash and styling. AirTouch full head from $300. Non-bleach full head from $250. Colour correction is priced on consultation. All prices exclude 9% GST. Your colourist provides a clear quotation before any service begins.
Is balayage suitable for Asian hair?
Absolutely. Hera's 18+ international master colourists are specifically experienced in Asian hair — its higher density, stronger natural pigment, and different porosity compared to Caucasian hair. Every balayage at Hera is custom-mapped to your specific hair type, skin undertone, and face shape for results that look natural and beautiful regardless of your ethnicity or base colour.
Does Hera offer a satisfaction guarantee on balayage?
Yes — unconditionally. Hera offers a 7-day satisfaction guarantee on all colour services. If you are not fully satisfied within 7 days, we will redo the service at no additional cost. If we cannot achieve the result to your satisfaction, we will not accept payment at all. No awkwardness, no conditions, and no compromise. This is not a policy — it is our promise.
How long does balayage last and how often should I return?
Balayage typically lasts 3 to 4 months before a refresh is needed. Because the technique grows out naturally without a harsh root line, many clients return every 12 to 16 weeks. Your colourist will advise on the ideal maintenance schedule during your consultation.
